Alternative Healing Therapies
Craniosacral Therapy, loosely based on osteopathy, is a deeply relaxing form of bodywork focused primarily on the concept of “primary respiration” and regulating the flow of cerebrospinal fluid by using therapeutic touch to manipulate the synarthrodial joints of the cranium. To do this, a practitioner will apply light touches to a patient’s skull, face, spine and pelvis. This therapy type is known to help with migraines and headaches, chronic pain, stress and tension, injuries, fatigue, PTSD, ADDADHD, and many other conditions. 50 minutes, $130
Polarity therapy is a kind of energy medicine based upon the universal principles of energy: attractions, repulsion, and neutrality. Even athletes are using polarity to achieve and maintain peak performance. 50 minutes, $135.
Pranic Energy Healing
Prana is a Sanskrit word that means life-force. Prana energy healing is based on the fundamental principles that the body is a self-repairing, living entity that possesses the ability to heal itself. Tuina is a form of Chinese manipulative therapy, is a hands-on body treatment. The practitioner may brush, knead, roll/press, and rub the areas between each of the joints, known as the eight gates, to attempt to open the body’s defensive (wei) chi and get the energy moving in the meridiens and the muscles. The practitioner can then use range of motion, traction, and massage, with the stimulation of acupressure points. These techniques are claimed to aid in the treatment of both acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, as well as many non-musculoskeletal conditions. 50 minutes, $145
Reflexology is a natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet, hands and ears, which correspond to every part, gland and organ of the body. The body receives its nerve supply directly from the spine. Abnormal tension tightens the muscle of the spine, resulting in pain and restriction of the flow of energy. Through application of pressure on these reflexes, the feet being the primary area of application, blood vessels relax reducing vascular constriction and allowing circulation to flow freely, carrying the necessary oxygen and nutrients to all body tissues and organs, which then release toxins from the body. Reflexology helps with relieving tension, improves circulation and helps promote the natural function of the related areas of the body. 25 minutes, $80 / 50 minutes, $135
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s "life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results. A state of deep relaxation, combined with a general feeling of well-being, is usually the most noticeable immediate effect of the treatment, although emotional releases can also occur. A series of three or more treatments, typically at intervals of one to seven days, is usually recommended if a chronic condition is being addressed. 50 minutes, $130.
