Destination Overview

The hotel is the ideal “home away from home” for visitors who want to

enjoy Santa Fe’s dazzling array of cultural, culinary and recreational experiences.

SANTA FE, NM . . . Visitors love to come to Santa Fe to immerse themselves in the history and culture of this fascinating city, and the convenient location of Eldorado Hotel & Spa makes it easy for them to do just that.

Many of the city’s top attractions are within a short walk of the hotel. These include the historic Santa Fe Plaza which is surrounded by shops, galleries and restaurants; the Palace of the Governors that dates back to the early 17th century; the New Mexico History Museum; the Museum of Fine Arts; the miraculous staircase at Loretto Chapel and the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum.

Visitors to Santa Fe could easily spend their whole trip just exploring these attractions, but there are many more to experience. Other “must see” attractions include:

·        Santa Fe Opera – Located just over four miles from the hotel, this striking, open-air theater brings in star tenors and sopranos from Europe and New York’s Metropolitan Opera. The season runs from July through August.

·        Canyon Road Galleries - Santa Fe is known for its thriving art scene, and Canyon Road showcases over one hundred art galleries in a one mile-long stretch of road. The galleries feature art by local and international artists in both traditional and contemporary styles.

·        Museum Hill – This beautiful complex includes four world-class museums that present the art, history and culture of the Native American Southwest, the Spanish Colonial era, and folk traditions from around the world.

·        Seasonal Events – Santa Fe loves to host festivals, and if the timing is right, visitors can participate in one or more of these enjoyable events. Examples include the city’s largest and most popular event, the Santa Fe Indian Market; the Spanish Market, the largest Hispanic art market in the country; the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival and the Wine and Chile Fiesta where 90 national wineries partner with 75 of Santa Fe’s best restaurants for cooking demonstrations, seminars, luncheons and dinners.

Santa Fe is also a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, and the area’s mild four-season climate and 330+ days of sunshine enhance the experience even more. Hiking and biking trails can be found in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains just minutes from the hotel, and horseback riding, river rafting and fly fishing excursions can also be easily arranged. Ski Santa Fe, which offers both skiing and snowboarding, is nestled high in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains at a base elevation of 10,350 feet, ranking it among the highest ski areas in the continental United States.

Located less than 25 miles from the hotel, Bandelier National Monument features more than 33,000 acres of ruggedly beautiful canyons and mesas. The many petroglyphs, cliff dwellings and masonry walls within the park pay tribute to the early days of a culture dating back more than 11,000 years that still survives in the surrounding communities.

Whether guests at Eldorado Hotel & Spa are interested in culinary experiences, cultural events, shopping, recreational adventures or family-friendly activities, the concierge staff at the hotel is always ready to offer helpful suggestions.
